At Butler Farm, we grow over 35 varieties of gourmet garlic for seed and culinary purposes. We choose to grow garlic that grows well in Canada and want to help you to be successful in your garlic growing journey.
Nestled on over 100 acres of fertile land just south of Woodstock, Ontario, Canada, The Butler family has called the farm home for four generations. Originally purchased by Ross Butler, the famous Canadian agricultural artist in 1969, the farm is a mosaic of sandy loam fields, regenerating Carolinian forest and riparian areas along Cedar Creek.
We are multi-generational family farm and the whole Butler family helps with planting, cultivating and harvesting the garlic crop every year. Our garlic is not certified organic, but we practice organic growing methods including crop rotation, cover cropping, and the use of compost and manure for fertility. We do not spray herbicides or pesticides of any kind and rely on hand weeding, hoeing, tarps and mulch to keep weeds at bay.
Orders through our online store will open in late August each year. Garlic varieties will remain available until inventory runs out or the planting season ends and we can no longer ship garlic without the possibility of it freezing in transit. If you have a question in regards to planting, growing, harvesting, curing and storing garlic please contact us here.
