Aglio Rosso
Aglio Rosso
Creole
Storage: 10-12 months
10-12 cloves per bulb
Also known as Sulmona Red garlic or Aglio Rosso Di Sulmona, this Creole variety has a long history in the Abruzzo region of Italy. Aglio Rosso Di Sulmona translates to “Red Garlic of Sulmona”. Beautiful white wrappers encase beautiful burgundy cloves. Delicious garlicky taste without too much heat. Smaller than average bulbs but the long storage of up to 12 months makes up for it. One of our longest storing garlics and renowned as some of the best garlic in the world.
Creole garlic varieties do not appear to be as winter hardy as some of our other hardneck garlic varieties and may not survive more harsh winters than we get here in southwestern Ontario. Northern growers, please purchase with caution/do some research as we cannot guarantee winter survival outside of our hardiness zone. Winter protection (thick mulch) may be necessary for overwintering success. Spring planting may be the best option for Creole varieties in more northern gardens.
Limited Quantity available. Limit 10 bulbs maximum per order.
