Turban varieties are among the earliest to be harvested from the garden and should be harvested 1-2 weeks before your main season varieties. Basque has origins in the Basque region of northern Spain. Medium heat and a distinct “vegetal” taste when raw. Sweet and mellow when cooked. Turban plants are often smaller in stature and weakly bolting. After scaping, their stems remain fairly soft and pliable.
